Halo Sport is a great tool to improve the efficiency, power, and endurance involved in cycling. Neuropriming improves the rate that the brain acquires physical skills and technique, giving cyclists the ability to more quickly hone their pedaling technique and ride more efficiently.
Power output comes not only from the muscle composition but also from the strength of the neural signals that reach them from the brain. Neuropriming increases power by enhancing the brain's ability to send stronger signals to the muscles. Over the course of an intense practice, the neural signals that activate the muscles weaken due to fatigue, causing cyclists to slow down. Neuropriming helps the brain learn to better manage fatigue and assists in the transfer of rhythmic motor patterns to more efficient neural circuits - allowing cyclists to pedal closer to their maximal exertion level through to the final sprint.
One of our cyclists, Ironman TJ Tollakson, gets the most out of Halo Sport by using it before his most intense pacing rides to improve efficiency, consistency, and tolerance at race speed. TJ commented:
“Halo Sport accelerated my training, helping me earn a podium finish at Ironman Arizona – amazing...”
Other cyclists using Halo Sport to boost their training include one of America's top cyclists, Andrew Talansky, and Ironman Tim O'Donnell, featured in this video:
Integrating Halo Sport into cycling training is easy. Each Neuropriming session begins with 20 minutes of stimulation, followed by a 60-minute hyperplasticity (or hyper-learning) period. The brain best responds to athletic training during that second 60-minute period, during which the headset can be removed (and replaced with a helmet!):
We recommend that cyclists complete the 20 minute Legs, Core, & Arms Neuropriming session during the last 20 minutes of their warm up (for example, while on a bike trainer or stretching before a ride). The best warm-ups include exercises that prepare the brain and muscles with movements that are similar to, or derived from, the cycling training to follow. After completing the initial Neuropriming session, you can take off Halo Sport - and you’re ready to ride.
